About Shogi
Shogi is a traditional Japanese board game played on a 9×9 grid. Two players take turns moving 8 piece types, aiming to checkmate the opponent's king (gyoku). A signature feature is the "drops" rule: captured pieces become yours and can be re-deployed, adding deep strategic complexity. This version supports CPU matches and 2-player mode, with legal-move hints so beginners can play with confidence.
How to play
- Tap one of your pieces and move it to a square marked with a white circle.
- When you capture an opponent's piece, it becomes yours and can be dropped onto any empty square.
- Pieces entering the opponent's territory (within the 3rd rank from the far side) may be promoted.
- Checkmate the opponent's king (gyoku) to win.
